Clamp calibrators

Current clamps are valuable tools to display and monitor current waveforms on an oscilloscope screen without the need to open the circuit. These highly sensitive precision instruments are frequently used under harsh operating conditions. This may lead to damages which could adversely affect measurement accuracy.

Without regular function test, such problems may keep unrecognized for a long time: Evaluations and decisions are based on wrong measuring results.

Current clamps should be checked for function and accuracy as regularly as probes and dividers. Mechanical damage of the magnetic circuit may dramatically deteriorate the accuracy although not being visible from outside. A test with calibrated current pulses will impose certainty. These instruments provide current pulses with fast rise time and defined amplitude for other applications, too.

The calibrators KSZ 10B and KSZ 100B are designed for testing fast current clamps and transducers. The output pulses are lead through an external conductor loop. The diameter of this conductor is as narrow as necessary to test even smallest clamps. The conductor loops can be unplugged, allowing the test of closed current transducers, too. Special shapes of the conductor loop are available upon request.
